Talking of Pagliacci, on stage in 2011 and re-taken this Season, the director Daniele Finzi Pasca says: “Pagliacci is an opera that does not know the passing of time, with its strong density, its fresh modernity. In almost all my performances there is a prologue or the rain that from the top brings unexpected gifts. Also Pagliacci will be so. Looking at the sky helps the heart go beyond. Canio, betrayed by his wife, describes to us the alienation of jealousy, the path without escape from the obsession of love. Everyone is a bit of an acrobat and we know life is a continuous repairing, a point of imbalance. From the subconscious emerges the power of the music by Leoncavallo, with his short and simple story”.
