PRESS RELEASE
www.OperaVision.eu – the new online destination for Opera!
Opera Europa and 30 opera companies from 18 countries join forces to build on the success of The Opera Platform and bring you OperaVision, thanks to the renewed support of the European Union’s Creative Europe programme.
On 12 October, opera lovers and novices may visit the new platform offered by Opera Europa, the European association of opera companies and festivals. The first new title will be Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande, streamed live from its premiere at Komische Oper Berlin on Sunday 15 October.
OperaVision brings newcomers to opera a varied selection of extracts, stories and documentaries related to opera, as well as the possibility to discover the rich repertoire of four centuries of music and words.
For aficionados, OperaVision is an opportunity to delve into productions from across Europe and beyond, read up on those performances and broaden their knowledge and understanding of opera.
The Opera Academy section gives access to a wealth of resources, from short films on the rehearsal process to interviews with renowned opera personalities.
Young audiences, their parents and their teachers, are invited to discover the wonderful world of opera through special content for different age groups.
OperaVision will celebrate the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 with a rich programme to showcase the diversity and relevance of opera in Europe today. Full details will be announced at the end of this year.
This new project builds on the success of The Opera Platform, the previous offer managed by Opera Europa and co-funded by Creative Europe, which gained a faithful audience, with over 3 million videos viewed in just under 2 and a half years. The renewed support of Creative Europe guarantees OperaVision’s activities until December 2020.
